Sea Salt Restaurant - Chik's Crib

Sea Salt Restaurant

On my friend's last night in Melbourne, we made a stop at Sea Salt, a short walk from Flinders' Station.

We ordered their Grilled Salmon with Salad and Chips, and Fish and Chips. Because it was evening, they also had some sushi for sale (buy 3 and get the 4th free). Granted, selling sushi casts a rather dubious light on the rest of their menu, but I'd like to think they sell sushi because their fishes are just that fresh.

Their Grilled Salmon with Salad came with beetroot, which was a novelty vegetable for me. The vegetables were fresh, and the salmon was grilled just right.

Their Fish and Chips was noticeably less fresh. The fries are a little lacklustre too. Fries that are salted immediately out of the fryer tastes different than fries salted when cold, because the salt no longer melds with the hot fries. The fries served here is unsalted, and though you can add your own amount of salt, it does taste different. I have to say that the greens were delicious and holding the condiments in a sea shell was a nice touch though.

The sushi was packed very tightly with rice and they were really filling, albeit unremarkable.

One problem about eating there is the amount of birds that swop in and out of the restaurant. They can be intrusive at times.

The Verdict:
The grilled salmon is delicious, but the other dishes are not very memorable.
